Michael Gonyea
Michael Gonyea is a 28 year old autistic man. He has liked shapes and bright colors all his life.
While attending the Children’s Annex, his vocational teacher let him choose a project to do.
Michael requested to do a stained glass piece. Since that time his interest has grown.
At the age of 18 he took a course on how to do stained glass and has loved doing it since that
time. We bought him the equipment and hired A person to come work with him.
At age 23 Michael went to a group home and his equipment laid idol for about four years.
We were able to find someone to work with Michael and was able to set up a shop in the
garage of his group home, Canal Path, run by New Horizons Inc.
Through New York State Self Determination Program, he is able to have his own shop and
trainer to work with him five days a week doing stained glass windows and lamps.
shown on this web site are just some of the stained glass pieces Michael has crafted entirely with
his own hands. He has sold many pieces and continues to take commissions.
